Chinese meat giant acquires Germany's fourth-largest sausage manufacturer!
Recently, Chinese meat giant WH Group, through its UK subsidiary Morliny Foods Holding, acquired Wolf Essgenuss GmbH, a century-old German sausage manufacturer.

Wolf is Germany's fourth-largest sausage manufacturer, employing approximately 1,800 people. Its popular products include Thuringian and Nuremberg sausages. Following the acquisition, the Wolf brand and its three factories in Bavaria, Thuringia, and Nuremberg will be retained, subject to antitrust approval.

Wolf's Managing Director, Christian Wolf, stated that this collaboration will open a new chapter in the company's 100-year history, facilitating its expansion in Europe while maintaining its commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and authenticity. Christian Wolf will continue to serve as Managing Director after the acquisition.

Wolf was founded in 1925 by Alois Wolf and rebuilt in Bavaria after World War II by his son, Karl Wolf. It underwent several expansions and new constructions throughout the 20th century.

Wolf will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025, but the celebrations will be replaced by a change in ownership.

Morliny Foods CEO Luis Cerdan stated that this acquisition will strengthen its strategic position in Europe and fill a gap in its European market portfolio. (Source: Company announcements, WH Group, etc.)
